Tech Jobs in Canada

What’s the Difference Between NOC 2171, 2173, 2175, etc.?

The Canadian government uses the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system for job classification. Because the government uses this system to decide immigration eligibility, understanding the NOC system is important for anyone looking to immigrate to Canada.

Tech jobs are typically designated as skilled work (NOC types 0, A, or B). Prospective immigrants who are skilled workers may apply to come to Canada through Express Entry or the Atlantic Immigration Pilot.

While the Canadian government provides a system to find one’s NOC, the differences between similar jobs can be confusing, particularly in the tech field.

We have put together an easy summary of the similarities and differences between five popular tech-related NOCs.
