Canadian Permanent Residents may be eligible to apply for Canadian Citizenship after living in Canada for three years. Citizenship and Immigration Canada also lists several other requirements for those who wish to apply for Canadian Citizenship.
To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must meet Citizenship & Immigration Canada’s eligibility requirements. You must:

be a permanent resident of Canada

have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years (1095 days)
-
have filed your taxes, if needed
-
show how well you know Canada
-
prove your language skills (reading, writing, and speaking) in either English or French
