Visitor Visa Applications from Chinese Nationals Made More Efficient
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released a news update about visitor visa applications from Chinese nationals. According to IRCC, the application process for Chinese nationals has now been made more efficient. IRCC is collaborating with a financial services group (Ant Financial) to make it easier for Chinese nationals to apply for a Canadian visitor visa online.
“Chinese nationals who use Alipay, a leading mobile and online payment platform in China that is operated by Ant Financial, now have the option to submit an English-language Zhima report to show proof of financial standing as part of their visitor visa app.”
The payment platform will create a free report that can be uploaded to the online application, or printed and submitted with a hardcopy/paper application. This report will allow IRCC officials to verify the authenticity of the report quickly, resulting in a more streamlined, more efficient application process.
Ant Financial operates Alipay, a leading mobile and online payment platform in China.
Zhima Credit is an independent credit-scoring assessment service that is also operated by Ant Financial.
Submitting a Zhima report, or having an Alipay account, is not mandatory for visitor visa application submission.
Visitor Visa/Temporary Resident Visa in Canada
Visitors can apply for a Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to visit Canada on holiday (vacation), visit family, conduct business, travel, and more. The TRV is an official document that is placed in your passport to show that you meet the requirements to enter Canada as a temporary resident (either as a visitor, a student, or a worker). In order to apply for a TRV, you must meet several basic travel requirements. You must:
Have a valid travel document, like a passport
Be in good health
Have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
Convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
Convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
Have enough money for your stay.
The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.
How to Submit Your Visitor Visa/Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) Application
There are two methods of submitting your application for a Visitor Visa or TRV. You can submit a paper application in person, or a digital application online. Here are the basic steps and requirements:
Determine your eligibility to apply for a Visitor Visa.
Download the Visitor Visa application package from IRCC.
Start your application online.
Submit your application in one package to a Visa Application Centre.
***If you need to give biometrics, submit your application in person.
If you applied for your visa online, you can check the status of your application by signing into your GCKey account. If you submitted a paper copy of your application, you can link your paper application to an online account. You can also check processing times to determine when your application might be complete.
