On March 19th, 2018, the Canadian government issued a pilot project for validating permanent residency within Canada. This project aims to make validating permanent residency from within Canada more convenient.
What has changed?
This method does not require individuals to book an appointment at an IRCC office in advance of arriving in Canada. From March 19 to April 20, 2018, IRCC will email selected clients in the Montreal, Fredericton and Halifax areas who have received their Confirmation of PR document. The email will be from an address ending in “@cic.gc.ca” and will list dates and times when clients can visit their local IRCC office to be confirmed as a PR.
How can I be included in this pilot project?
Clients cannot request to be included in this pilot project. However, IRCC will determine if this landing process should be expanded to become part of the normal process for all clients based on the results of this pilot project.
I received an email that appears to have come from IRCC. Is it safe to open?
If you receive an email that appears to come from IRCC but looks suspicious, don’t click on any links or give any information about yourself.
